Don't confuse with

儿 (ér, child/son) is drawn as two fairly straight strokes standing apart, like a child's two legs. 几 (jǐ, how many/a few; also a small table) has more curve to it — the main stroke hooks around, with a small rising tick at the bottom-left, like the bent leg of a low stool.
